February 23rd, 2013

Skydive Georgia is holding its annual Safety Day on Saturday, March 9 2013.

Knock off the winter rust and join us for a day of jumping, information, and re-currency.  We are so excited to get back in the air, we are planning an incredible weekend. Everyone that attends Safety Day will receive:

1.       One FREE lift ticket to be used anytime in the 2013 season.

2.       $20 lift tickets for Saturday and Sunday, March 9-10.

3.       All food provided for the event.

4.       A Safety Day t-shirt.

OVERVIEW OF PRESENTATION

The event will last approximately three hours. The training sessions will be broken down into four “stations” through which all participants will rotate in order to have hands-on experiences with gear and be able to ask instructors relevant questions. This will be an excellent opportunity to pick the brains of experienced instructors that bring over a combined century of skydiving experience. In addition to our presenters, we will have instructors on standby to help all participants individually.

Gear Check and Review— Have jumpers inspect their rigs with a rigger. Check closing loops and flaps, pilot chute snugness and condition, velcro, three-ring condition, RSL routing, AAD compliance with battery and factory check, etc.

  • ·         “Fast” Eddie Grantland – Gear Check
  • ·         Frank Avila – Gear Maintenance and Rigging

Skydiving Emergency Review and Drills— Review all types of problems, reinforce altitude awareness, discuss disorientation, practice in a suspended harness.

  • ·         Johan Meurer

Canopy Flight and Landing Patterns—Use aerial photos to show acceptable and unacceptable outs, review hazards, establish or review landing patterns, and discuss canopy handling toward preventing low-turn accidents.

  • ·         Scott Kasmar – Flight and Patterns
  • ·         Charles “Woody” Woodard – Canopy Selection and Downsizing

Aircraft Procedures and Emergencies—Review exit order and loading procedures, seat belt and weight and balance concerns, spotting procedures, visibility minimums and cloud clearances, air traffic control requirements, and aircraft emergency scenarios.

  • ·         Carl Meurer – All Flight Elements
  • ·         Mike Stone – Spotting and Exit Order
